NJOY+NCrystal: An open-source tool for creating thermal neutron scattering libraries with mixed elastic support

In this work we present NJOY+NCrystal, a tool to generate thermal neutron scattering libraries with support for coherent and incoherent elastic components crystalline solid materials. This tool, which is customized version of NJOY, was created by modifying the nuclear data processing program NJOY call software library NCrystal, includes proposed change in ENDF-6 format store both components. Necessary changes enable as well sample it OpenMC Monte Carlo code, are detailed here. Examples materials that coherent–dominant, incoherent–dominant, mixed scatterers presented, creation novel MgH2 MgD2, under consideration advanced reflectors HighNESS project at European Spallation Source. NJOY+NCrystal greatly simplifies process (TSL) exemplified 213 new updated TSL evaluations.
